VICTOR BORGE MUSIC SCOLARSHIP

Thanks To Scandinavia celebrated its 53rd anniversary in 2016 by launching the Thanks To Scandinavia Victor Borge Music Scholarship. The scholarship is named in honor of Danish entertainer Victor Borge, who co-founded TTS in 1963 with New York attorney Richard Netter. This scholarship is a meaningful way to honor Mr. Borge’s legacy of love of music and his commitment to paying forward the tremendous debt owed to heroic Scandinavians and Bulgarians who, despite great personal risk, saved many of their Jewish neighbors from Nazi aggression during World War II.

The $20,000 Thanks To Scandinavia Victor Borge Music Scholarship is awarded to one student studying in the U.S. each year. Students must be studying in a field related to music, with strong preference will be given to graduate students studying performance music, composition, and conducting. Undergraduate students are also considered. Students from Denmark, honoring Mr. Borge’s home country, are given preference.

This scholarship must be used for tuition or tuition-related expenses, and applicants must demonstrate financial need to be eligible. Thanks To Scandinavia is partnering with The Danish-American Fulbright Center in the application process.
